The Moderna Museet is Stockholm's Museum of Modern Art, a museum located on the island of Skeppsholmen in central Stockholm, Sweden.
Temporary exhibits require a right of entry. In 1993, six works by Picasso and two by Braque were stolen for a total of over 60 million euros. This theft inspired the plot of the movie Rififi (in French Du rififi chez les hommes). Only three works by Picasso have been recovered.
The building that currently houses the museum was built between 1994 and 1998 and designed by Spanish architect Rafael Moneo.
It is located on the highest part of Skeppsholmen Island, just minutes from central Stockholm.
