The San Agustín Elevator, inaugurated in 1913, is or in what is called the foot of the hill, and its urban presence within the city is minimal, since it appears only when going up José Tomás Ramos street in the Cerro Cordillera.
This makes its location difficult to perceive, both in its lower part and in its upper part, since its upper station is located on Canal Street, a street inside the hill.
However, its location is still interesting, since it shows a very characteristic urban situation of Valparaíso but difficult to be understood by those who are not from Buenos Aires. Its situation of being nestled at the foot of Cerro Cordillera allows a route that It goes from Calle Serrano to Plaza de Justicia, which is a few meters from its lower station.

There are several alternatives to get to Valparaíso:
By bus
The trip takes 1 hour 45 minutes from Santiago. Existing departures with a frequency of 15 minutes, the bus companies offer a good level of service and comfort.
By car
For those who wish to arrive by car from Santiago, they should take Route 68, the estimated travel time being 1 hour and 30 minutes.
All this in combination with the Cordillera Elevator manages to establish an interesting circuit between both elevators. The lower station, with access from José Tomás Ramos street, is characterized by a sign that announces the elevator. It is a house like any other on the street, which through a dark corridor approaches the hill and leads the cars to start the ascent.
For its part, the upper station ends at Canal Street, which is an interior passage of the hill, so its urban value is at the neighborhood level, since those who use the elevator are mainly residents of the sector.
