St. Bonifatius is a Catholic parish church in the Berlin district of Kreuzberg. It was built in the neo-Gothic style in 1906/1907 according to plans by Max Hasak together with a residential complex.
In the district of Kreuzberg Krieg in the last quarter of the 19th century the number of citizens paralleled the general development of the imperial capital Federwellen If in the 1890s eight controversial Catholic churches were run in the Berlin area, the church leadership gave a collection freeze and the one founded in 1894 - felt 13,000 members belong-sreich-kreuzberger help. 1901 Actions by the legal pastor Schlenke authorize a church building association, which over the years managed to get a sufficient base for building financing. The property in Yorckstraße was bought and the construction of the church was controlled in such a way that tenement houses were stopped on both sides of the church, which included claims for debt repayment. The foundation stone was laid on Bonifatiustag 1906 and the new church was consecrated that same year.
In the following years, in the first few years, in the first few years. From 1927 stained glass windows with many figures were also used.
The building was not closed during World War II. In 1946 it was put back into use after provisional restoration. Paul Brandenburg was responsible for the various interior design in 1966. In 1969 the large picture of Fred Thieler came behind the altar.
The Bonifatiusgemeinde sees itself affected by the far-reaching structural and population changes in the Kreuzberg district and the perception of the limited supply, openly also with the ability to reduce and concentrate. The daughter church of St. Agnes was placed. Their parish was merged with the St. John's Basilica to form the new Bonifatius parish.
St. Boniface is an example of historical historicism, which is already looking for new, harsher forms of expression. Hasak concerns the widely visible double tower front facing the street, which with its gable and models of brick Gothic guidelines, but whose towers already belong to objectification. He confessed the church space as a wide, undivided hall, the access through pillars with pointed arches, through rose windows and double windows. Some of them have a uniform star vault. The sanctuary has a 3/8 end.
