It is a small town, with approximately 80 homes, whose inhabitants lead a precarious life producing ceramics and tilling the land for their own family consumption, being famous the Folk Festival that they carry out every year, every third Sunday of June, where They perform numerous dances from various places, with their typical clothes.

According to the latest research carried out, the aforementioned archaeological park has an area of approximately one thousand hectares, because outside the gigantic Inca wall that protects the park, there are also some constructions such as aqueducts, underground tombs and pre-Inca culture precincts.

The complex was built in different periods. One of the sectors was built during the reign of Inca Wiracocha, as noted by the chronicler Inca Garcilaso de la Vega. Later, another stage was built between 1439 and 1471, during the Pachacútec government, and, finally, the third stage was built, according to Cieza de León, by the Inca Túpac Yupanqui, between 1471 and 1493.

This archaeological complex is located in the district of San Pedro de Cacha, province of Canchis, department of Cusco at 3460 meters above sea level on the slopes of the Quimsachata volcano.

On the road to Puno, at km 125 is the town of Raqchi, which belongs to the district of San Pedro de Cacha, province of Canchis. Raqchi is located on the left bank of the Vilcanota River at a height of 3500 meters.

The RAQCHI architectural complex is one of the most important constructions of the Inca Empire, characterized by its strange and extraordinary architectural technique, totally different from the other constructions of the Incas. However, it is very little known by national and foreign tourists.
