This temple is one of the oldest in the port. It was erected in 1833 by Don Antonio Dañino, a prosperous merchant living in the port and remodeled in 1876. In its beginnings it was called Iglesia San Simón y San Judas del Callao, since it was said that it housed the remains of these saints. It was remodeled in 1966, after it fell into disrepair as a result of that year's earthquake. The current church is of neoclassical style, built on the basis of Greco-Roman patterns; it has a single nave, with numerous columns and arches, and a small dome over the main altar.

Its facade has two niches from where the images of San Judas Tadeo and San Simón Zelote, patron saints of the ports, guard the bay of Callao.
