The Cascais mare data are highly sought after by the scientific community, nationally and internationally, being sent, for example, to the Permanent Service For Mean Sea Level, for more than 120 years. These data are subsequently made available in a Database of worldwide access and used in various scientific programs. One of the most important data that was collected by this Marégrafo, identifies the increase of the average level of sea water throughout the XX century was 1.3 mm per year.
Currently, the Cascais Marégrafo is operated by the Portuguese Geographic Institute, with all its data being digitized by it, to be duly studied.
