The gastronomy of the region is inspired by the best fish and seafood. Olhão has one of the main fishing ports of the Algarve and an industrial activity of canned tuna and sardines.
Lagoons, canals, islets and marshes of the Municipality are abundantly inhabited by bivalves, such as clams, cockles and oysters, which influenced the food habits of the population.
Nowadays, the rural areas produce fresh fruits and vegetables of high quality, which you can find in the market, as well as fresh fish and shellfish, almonds and honey.
Landscapes, experiences, historical and archaeological heritage, are more than enough reasons to travel with delay and pleasure throughout the municipality of Olhão.
