Built between 1652-54 - gathering of women of the Order of St. Teresa.
Its founders were Pedro Fialho and his wife Maria Lopes, Brothers of Our Lady of Carmo, whose image they had made in Lisbon around 1650.
The convent is a 16th century building. XVIII.
The building is built around a rectangular courtyard, the arcade cloister round supported by pillars and corbels, where they open to the level of the first floor. Guillotine windows.
It worked for many years the hospital, now disabled. It is currently being modified to function as the Home of the Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Cuba.
It is located in the Largo do Carmo / Largo S. João de Deus, in the Vila de Cuba.
The church is linked to the building of the old gathering on the west side, and is surrounded to the north and east by the garden of the convent and is preceded by a large paved courtyard.
The interior of the church is rectangular in plan and covered by a vaulted crib, with a prominent side wall where there is a fresco painting of large dimensions, Saint Kitts with the boy on his back.
