Created by Ordinance 2815/95, the Museum of the Court of Justice aims to preserve and disseminate the material elements related to the life and traditions of the Paulista Judiciary. Inaugurated on February 1, 1995, at the Palace of Justice, this cultural sector has the function of surveying all existing historical collections in the State of São Paulo, in order to designate places suitable for its exhibition, as well as to carry out the necessary cataloging and collection. preservation.
By setting up permanent nuclei and temporary exhibitions, it fulfills the important mission of preserving for the new generations the history and objects linked to the evolution of the Paulista Judiciary, highlighting the eminent figures of the past that marked an epoch since the establishment of the “Tribunal da Relação”. ”, In 1874, in the then province of São Paulo.
The Court Museum, since 2007, is housed in the Conde de Sarzedas Palace, where it maintains important collections related to the creation and evolution of the São Paulo Judiciary, as well as two permanent exhibition centers, located at the Justice Palace, “Emericator Room Levai ”and“ Espaço Cultural Poet Paulo Bomfim ”. Temporary - itinerant exhibitions are inaugurated next to the “Lost Steps Room” - main circulation hall of the Judiciary Branch.
The headquarters of the Court Museum, Palacete Conde Sarzedas, can be visited individually, by groups of visitors and students, on weekdays from 11 am to 5 pm. Group visits should be scheduled in advance as they are accompanied by monitors.
