The Municipal Museum of Fine Arts has been located, since 1971, in the premises of the Baburizza Palace, a beautiful art nouveau style building dating from 1916 and formerly owned by the nitrate businessman Pascual Baurizza. Originally, the building was built by the architects Renato Schiavon and Arnaldo Barison on behalf of the magnate Ottorino Zanelli.
This beautiful art nouveau style mansion and 2,100 meters built, was built in 1916 on one of the margins of Cerro Alegre. Pascual Baburizza, saltpeter and philanthropist, bought it, immediately designing the Yugoslav promenade that flanks it.
It is located in Paseo Yugoslavo s / n, Cerro Alegre, its access is through the El Peral elevator (Plaza Justicia)

By bus
The trip takes 1 hour 45 minutes from Santiago. Existing departures with a frequency of 15 minutes, the bus companies offer a good level of service and comfort.
By car
For those who wish to arrive by car from Santiago, they should take Route 68, the estimated travel time being 1 hour and 30 minutes.
This museum has important collections of Chilean and European painting from the 19th and 20th centuries; among which the French Rousseau, Boudin, Henry, the Dutch Jengkine stand out. In a room dedicated especially to Valparaíso, there are works by the German Juan Rugendas and the Englishman Thomas Somerscales, who painted themes related to the port. Among the national artists are creations by Pedro Lira, Juan Francisco González, Cosme San Martín and Valenzuela Puelma, among others.
