Costa do Sauípe golf course has changed the coast along the north of Salvador, the capital city of Bahia, into one of the highest quality destinations for tourists and golf lovers. Its proximity to another internationally renowned golf course, Iberostar (see page XX), has attracted numerous visitors. The fact that it is situated near Salvador – the resort is only 76km far from Luis Eduardo Magalhães International Airport – makes it very accessible for visitors from all over the world.

Designed by American Brian Costello, Costa do Sauipe Golf Links has taken advantage of the local vegetation to create hazards that will get any golfer into trouble, such as fairways surrounded by low scrub vegetation, if you can find your ball it is often impossible to return to the fairway. There is no shortage of sand on this course, since Sauípe was built within sand dunes. The clubhouse is about three kilometers from the hotel complex and the beach. Because it is situated on an elevated area, the clubhouse offers a stunning view over most of the golf course, the coconut trees and the sea, which can also be seen from some spots on the course. It is impossible to forget how close it is to the ocean even when it is out of sight, for the strong winds are usually an extra challenge for the players who venture on the Costa do Sauípe’s fairways.
