Aguas Calientes also called Machupicchu Pueblo was forged from 1911 with the beginning of the construction of the railway line, 10 years after the discovery of the city of Machu Picchu in 1901.
In 1928 it began its first phase in the Maquinachayoq camp, at Km. 110 (currently Machupicchu Pueblo).
This camp was the center of operations for machinery and heavy equipment for the project, and as such was the temporary station for the railroad workers. Then, the construction of the railway line would continue until the Chaullay station, giving way to the regular operation of the Cusco - Santa Ana passenger and cargo train.
Aguas Calientes is a beautiful town but it is very fast and in disorder, things in the town are expensive, much more expensive than in Cusco and the high price is because the locals have to bring things from Cusco.
With the construction of the railway line and the truck that has been brought to the city and Aguas Calientes begins to grow, the merchants will begin to build their brick house, shops and hotels, under the age of José Nouchi. In charge of bringing light to the town and with it, but tourists and sleeping in Aguas Calientes, the successive mayors understood that the town's progress needed to be urbanized. Plots were distributed in the middle of the baskets, apples and squares were brought from where they used to be broken.
Terrorism has persisted for some years in this development. But in the mid-nineties, this town has continued to grow. An estimated 1,500 tourists will go daily to Aguas Calientes, all the locals living in Aguas Calientes tourism will not produce anything at all from Cusco from food to tourists.
